Bridge Master Jennifer at the Lakeshore Road Swing Bridge is working to convince Parks Canada Environmental officials to take her Snapping and Map Turtles seriously. The Trent Severn Waterway is run by Parks Canada as a National Historic Site. Most of the locks are not large or quiet enough to be prime breeding areas. But Jennifer's site is an isolated swing bridge at the entrance to Lake Simcoe. The turtles obviously like it. I can't help but wonder what they think of the lonely Blue Heron standing guard. You can see turtle bodies in the first picture but only their snouts in the third. I saw as many 25 snouts at once.
